This week in Marketing Club, we have received questions ranging from Covid related keywords to image compression and the importance of H1 titles to domain authority.
Let’s check out the questions during the SEO Fundamentals Session one by one:
1) How to use covid related keywords on Google Adwords?
2) Does domain authority matter for top 10 positions?
3) What are your best practices for image compression?
4) I’m juggling SEO and PPC. What should I do?
1) How to use covid related keywords on Google AdWords?
AdWords is stringent on health-related topics. This type of content is called “Your Money Your Health” content. Therefore, those types of terminologies are protected and guarded By AdWords to prevent any abuse or improper use that will impact human life. Besides, Marketing Club – SEO Fundamentals Room is not focusing on Pay Per Click or AdWords. It is better to ask about Search Engine Optimization related topics.
In this regard, if you want to do a Covid related SEO campaign, you need to run competitive analysis and find content gaps in creating Covid related content. Don’t get discouraged by the large companies because they are usually slow to adopt changes or develop niche content. Therefore, you can find missing themes or topics and fill the gap.

2) Does domain authority matter for top 10 positions?
Google has offered no calculation for measuring Domain Authority. Domain Authority is a score developed by Moz.
It is about how many backlinks that you are getting for your website. It’s not a ranking factor. It shows how often Google is displaying that domain in its search results.
Ahrefs and SEMRush also generated their methods in calculating the domain authority. Therefore, each domain authority metric is different, but they give us a general sense to understand where we are standing amongst our competitors. It might be said that SemRush and Moz are collaborating in the calculation of domain Authority.
3) What are your best practices for image compression?
- Start with downsizing images to JPG before exporting them to your website.
- It’s essential to use a high-performance web hosting company. For example, Wp-rocket is very efficient in caching, lazyload, preload, delay JS, and removing unused CSS . Another choice for hosting is Cloudflare.
- There is also an app called Squoosh for compressing large images.
- Condensing the pictures to 70 KB or even 30 KB will create a significant performance shift but refrain from using Tiny Png or Squash.
- Google developer’s platform endorses another format called WebP. WebP format resizes images 26% smaller than they are with PNG without any quality loss.
- Resizing is also related to the Worpress theme used. The best way to handle this problem is to test different resizing options and find the optimal solution for your website. Because sometimes, the plugins might slow down your website.
- In addition, test the images on different browsers and see how fast they are uploading.
- You may also use a CDN (Content Delivery Network) like Cloudfront, which will compress your images on the fly.
4) I’m an SEO expert, but my client wants me to manage their PPC campaigns too. What should I do?
It sounds like a tremendous cross-selling point when you are helping your client with Search Engine Optimization. If your client likes your services and wants you to do the PPC, too, it’s essential to set the expectations realistically. This will help you to set boundaries and prevent any misunderstanding.
When your client has little to no knowledge of PPC, it’s crucial to educate them and be reasonable because they don’t know what they don’t know. Providing clarity and transparency is the key. When they ask you to do PPC, you can tell them that PPC is not among your specialties, but you can do it for them. When pricing your PPC service, directly tell them the rate charged by the PPC industry. Then tell them that despite this situation you’ll do it for them at a discount price.
5) Are you getting data from 3rd party?
Yes:
- Crawling
- Finding pages that are performing well and pages performing worse.
- Getting Visual Data Maps
- Reporting and diagnostics (e.g., Screamingfrog)
.
6) How vital H1 titles are in SEO?
Putting things into the structure is very important for Google when indexing your page. Since Heading Tags give context on what the page is about, titles are crucial.
Titles also give your text readability. Therefore, try to give your text or paragraph meaningful and descriptive headings by stressing target keywords.
If you are using WordPress templates, many of them direct you to create headings (H1, H2, H3…)
If the template does not have a heading system, then use bigger fonts when generating your headings.
