00:09:50 What is your immediate to go in content marketing? And what’s not talked less but essential in your opinion?
Joshua
00:10:08 In its core content is what people want, read and use it. It’s an art with keywords and understanding your target audience. Therefore, quality content can only be created by writing towards your target audience and fulfilling their needs, wants and dreams.
Joshua asked
00:11:10 What is your framework when you create content?
Bob:
Authoritative content has become so important that link building has lost its charm in the content game. Content needs to be created to encompass the keywords, topics, and niches. Adding the right images and video also makes it attractive for the user. Authoritativeness gives small businesses a chance to compete with larger companies.
Kyla:
00:12:27 Kyla is one of the influential TikTok and Instagram stars, and she has been creating content for nine years, but until last year she did not recognize the importance of content. With the help of Joshua, she is going through an excruciating process to update her posts and content. Thus, since then, she has seen fruitful outcomes.
Firuze
00:15:00 When Firuze’s software company was ready to launch, they were unaware that people were searching for a solution like theirs. Since there was no similar solution in the market, they could not figure out how people expressed their needs, pains or frustration in searching for a product like theirs. Besides, they also ran Adwords campaigns without any positive returns. When Firuze found out that people were discussing the software in a couple of marketing forums, she understood which keywords or phrases to identify the problem. As a result, they listed those keywords and created content accordingly on their Blog website. They posted on issues facing marketers, and they linked the blog and website to each other. Moreover, they established partnerships with other companies and published mutual press releases, which helped build their links, SEO, and brand reputation.
Karin
00:16:56 No matter what business you are running, you should attract attention. The first item to think about is how you will make searchers click on your links at the SERPs. This is the foundational piece in your content creation process. Secondly, once they are at your site, your goal is to get their information (name, email, telephone etc.). Therefore, your site must be legitimate and trustworthy for them to feel confident enough to share their Information. The third action we want to see is to make people purchase our products or solutions. The question is how we would make them trust our solution or product.
Renee Bigelow
00:19:05 She would like to express some context around how the web evolved to today’s point
Web.1.0 was about creating content and putting it on a website.
Web.2.0 was about user-generated content and blogging
Web.3.0 is about Neurol Networks, Natural Language Processing, Semantic Web etc., blockchain.
Back in the old days, Content Authority was built through backlinking. Therefore, everybody tried to get as many links as possible. In contrast, today, authoritative content can be established through high-quality content.
Recently, Information and content have been democratized and widely available to the masses. As marketers, we try to give customers information to make more informed decisions. Because they have higher expectations ever than before thus, marketers need to meet users’ expectations and communicate with their customers with the right tone of messaging. Under these circumstances, we need to create helpful content on multiple touchpoints and marketing channels. So, content has become a very central aspect of marketing. Without a content strategy, you can’t make a marketing strategy. Without a content strategy, you cannot have a successful business strategy and profitability. They were all interrelated and intertwined with each other.
Itamar
00:23:15 The value of the content is critical because actual content answers the customers’ questions precisely. There are tons of content out there, but the approach should be asking yourself, “Am I adding value? Am I adding value in answering the questions?” or “Am I being seen as an expert and authority by my audience with the content I’ve created?”
Of course, depending on your messaging style on the web, you might need pictures, videos, podcasts, blog posts etc. However, you always aim to create value for your audience through high quality and relevant content.
Questions from the audience:
00:27:00 If there is an Adsense ad in a blog post, does that negatively impact the crawlability, content, or SEO?
- Neither put ads that will slow down your page upload speed nor place them above the fold.
- As long as your ads stay in line with Google’s Adsense guidelines, your page does not get negatively effected in your niche
- Just make sure that you set up ads correctly by complying with Google’s best practices and guidelines
00:30:10: Can we apply the same SEO fundamentals for podcasting too?
Renee Bigelow
Podcast platforms are like social media platforms. If you rely entirely on their platform without hosting your podcast on your website or hosting platform, that might pose a problem because these are third-party platforms. Therefore, you don’t control them, and they can change their algorithm anytime. Unfortunately, you’ll be very susceptible to any changes that can happen and lose your place.
Each podcast platform like Apple, Stitcher or Spotify has its own best practices, such as title creation, tagging, etc. However, when you have hosted your podcast, you are already familiar with SEO rules.
Kyla
00:33:10: If you have a podcast in another platform while you also hosted your podcast on your website, the link back from the podcast platform to your website has enormous impacts on your SEO. Therefore, repurpose the podcast content as a blog post or mention some of the quotes from your podcast. Use different wording from your podcast and focus on the keywords. Don’t forget that transcribing it verbatim is not a practice desirable by Google.
00:37:55 Joshua:
- When you upload your podcast content to different platforms, make sure that you fill the profile and keywords section. While creating descriptions, include the most important keywords that you want to get found
- When embedding the podcast into your website, make sure that you have a description of the podcast, major takeaways section, profile, and bio of the person you’re hosting as a guest and put timestamps. Just don’t use the word-by-word transcription.
Kyla
00:42:03 Sometimes some sites are ranked higher even though they have harmful content. Some people choose to manipulate the search results in different ways. Even though a site is not offering valuable content and its pages are full of ads and popups, that site can be ranked higher. However, the page experience won’t be good because people won’t stay on that page. Eventually, Google picks up the search experience on that page by realizing a high bounce rate and minimal time spent on the site. As a result, ultimately, Google will lower its rankings.
Karin
00:42:45 Google sets the rules and chooses the parameters for creating the algorithm, but eventually, a robot executes all the formulas and makes the calculations. Sometimes the algorithm updates could not serve their purpose. Sometimes people find a way to trick and manipulate the system and don’t mind “quick burn and churn” because they make money for a few weeks. When Google banned them, they opened up another account. This does not identify an ideal situation, but they eventually get caught up by Google.
Bob
00:44:27 Despite their thin content, some websites can be ranked higher than a high-quality website. The reason might be that they have been in the game for a long time with massive authority and a multiple backlink profile.
Itamar
00:45:00 Don’t believe everything that Google or any other high-profile person or tweet says. Always be critical and compare different sources to come to your conclusion. Unfortunately, sometimes Very Established Brands stay at higher rankings even though they have a terrible page experience and lousy content.
Renee Bigelow
00:48:02 Renee explained the situation when she is working with startups. Unfortunately, many startups could not understand the importance of fresh, updated content and SEO. So, her startup formula is:
- Create some basic strategy at the beginning,
- Start writing for people,
- Then we move toward more top of the funnel content but still write content that serves people’s needs
- Then we go back and spend time on technical optimization
- Since we already know our audience and their needs and embedded into our marketing and content strategy, our pages are starting to rank higher
- Then we do some more strategy analysis and look forward to going after keyword opportunities.
- Then we look back at page speed and do some more technical optimization
- And then, the site gets ranked higher, and the startup gets a quick ROI from SEO.
Joshua
00:54:15 Hey, Favour! Do you have insights and Information on content for SEO?
Favour
00:54:20 The longevity of content is essential for success. You’ll consider SEO, longtail keywords and seed keywords when you think about longevity. Besides, Pinterest is an excellent resource for receiving referral traffic, and it provides opportunities for Image search engine optimization. Content is a conversation starter if used correctly in the right places. Once you’ve recognized your niche by Google, you can get ranked. Then you can break your content down into different classes, such as a featured snippet, a podcast clip, a video, or anything relevant to your niche and easy to do. Unfortunately, SEO is a complicated method, and people do not know. In its essence, SEO is part of your communication strategy, and you do it simply by using words, content, podcasts, videos, images, and conversations. When creating content pillars, plan a stable and consistent strategy covering users’ needs. Content pillars and strategizing them is a foundational layout for success. The second aspect is understanding what the searchers use to identify their problem, question, or query to find your product. Because what you think might be not what they put into search queries. For that reason, when writing content, look out for similar keywords, related keywords, or suggested words.
01:03:50 How to title or label your images when Google crawls your pictures or video? Is there a framework?
01:04:19
- Label them all in lower case, separate them with a regular dash and put keywords into your image files.
- Suppose you have photoshop; go to File/File info and write your keywords and description. These are not only very critical for Google but also Pinterest and Instagram.
- Hit your tags up like alt-tag
- Look at this article on image schema as well (https://ignitevisibility.com/can-image-schema-markup-create-rich-results-with-pictures/)
Question: Can Google read the NFT description in code so you can leave the pictures as is?
Karin: You can tell Google about the NFT by schema, but it’s great when you can tag an image or video for the copywriting and licensing needs. With proper schema NFT, you can tell that this image has certain aspects (subjects) that you can verbally describe, such as this is a circular shape and the colour is red, or you can tell the size of the file. There are also more things that you can explain, like how long the video is, or you can create chapters in a video minute by minute
Favour
When you’re licensing your content from music or movies, metadata information is vital (https://nftschool.dev/reference/metadata-schemas/#intro-to-json-schemas). Metadata such as the properties name, description, creators name, related data, images, or videos is critical for NFT marketplaces to understand the NFT properly. The more descriptive you are, the more you get indexed in suggested results.
00:50:20 How do you see the AI content creation platforms? How could they possibly replace human voice, sense, emotions and tonality?
Renee Bigelow
01:10:15 I like to investigate any tool that helps and supports my craft and work. I’m experimenting with different AI tools. I like the technologies that allow me to do higher-level work by easing where I have friction. In most cases, technology replaces some functions, but it elevates one process to another and still creates value and new jobs. That happened with CRM tools, emails, or marketing automation tools.
Renee Roberts
01:12:40 Appsumo Rytr is a copywriting tool that you can try, which has received good reviews from some industry people. It is only $39 for a short time, and you can return it with a moneyback guarantee.
Renee Bigelow: The initial tinkering with the AI content creation platforms is that it’ll take some time and effort to get them what you want to do. They are not perfect, and you need to understand how they are working and run tests to get better results. They may be short in creating meaningful content but maybe efficient enough for small pieces.
Karin: Write a paragraph. On the other side, give that same piece to the AI content platform to see what it brings out. Compare the results, aggregate and make edits for the latest version of your content.
There are some tools like jarvis.ai seosurfer, outranking or anyword.com. You you can also check reviews of multiple ai writer tools by visiting Techradar.com
Those are the main takeaways from the discussions. Next week Tuesday we’ll be here to discuss UX/UI.
Looking forward to seeing you!
